I do not mean has someone taken you by the arms to shake you physically, though that may have happened to some of you.

Have you ever experienced the shaking of an earthquake? The ground under your feet literally feeling the vibrations. Perhaps some of you have.

But what I am talking about here is an internal shaking. Something that has happened to shake you to your core. Something that removes your self-assurance. Something that has made you question your beliefs, your faith in the Lord, or your faith in a friend or relative. Well, I’m sure most of us have experienced something of the sort.

What I really want to address is the shaking of God. Yes, God shakes us, and He does it for a purpose: so that those things that are not eternal will fall, and that which is of value in our lives will remain standing for eternity. You will find reference to this in the Old Testament book of Haggai and the New Testament book of Hebrews.

Haggai 2:6,7

For thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘Once more in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land.

‘I will shake all the nations; and they will come with the wealth of all nations, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the LORD of hosts.

Haggai 2:21,22

Speak to Zerubbabel governor of Judah, saying, ‘I am going to shake the heavens and the earth.

‘I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations;…

The New Testament reference is Hebrews 13:26. God says He plans to shake everything in our world. The earth. The sea. The heavens. This is a shaking we would all be able to feel. And I believe we have been feeling it during this COVID-19 crisis. He is shaking for a purpose. The world has become altogether corrupt and evil. We, the church, have sat back in silence as one right after the other has been taken away from us. The time had come when the Lord had to do something to get our attention. To get us praying. To bring us to our knees, in spirit even if we cannot do it physically. We must confess, repent, and pray from a humble heart and then the Lord will come to heal our land. See 2 Chronicles 7:13,14 for the full scripture.

And what will be the outcome of this shaking? For one thing, evil will be exposed as never before. But there is a promise within these verses. God says the nations will bring in their wealth to His house. The church, the Body of Christ, is His house today. We have not yet seen this transfer of wealth up to this point in history. He also promised that His glory would fill His house. We have also not seen this happen in the church. Most of us have seen snatches of it, times when His glory did fill the sanctuary, but not to the extent that this verse is talking about. But I believe we will see the fulfillment of both.

The Lord also promised to overthrow thrones of Kingdoms and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations. What did He mean, the kingdoms of the nations? I believe He was speaking of demonic kingdoms that are ruling the nations. They have taken their place on thrones from where they rule. These thrones are coming down. The Lord is going to overthrow them. Is that not good news? Of course, we all know that the tribulation is yet to come when evil will be unleashed over the whole realm of this earth. But this shaking is to come first. And we also know from scripture that the final defeat of evil will come and the millennial reign of Christ will take place followed by the battle of Armageddon and the ushering in of the new heavens and the new earth.

These verses in Haggai were the ones I spoke of in my previous post, Angels and COVID-19. These were the verses the prophet spoke of on the Sid Roth show I watched. I was humbled to think that the Lord had already shown this to me. It made a great impact on me along with the vision of the angels. I think it changed my life in some way, most evidently in the way I pray. I believe that was part of the personal shaking the Lord is doing in our lives today. And we need to welcome that shaking. We need any kingdoms in our own lives, anything that has displaced the Lord from the throne of our hearts, to be overthrown.

It is time to pray, yes. But it is time to allow the Lord to remove, by that shaking, all of those things that have held us back from serving Him wholeheartedly, from obeying His instructions for our lives, from fully living out the destiny He has called us to. This is needed personally, yes. But it is time for the church, the Body of Christ, to come into this shaking to purify us as a whole, to prepare us for the ministry God is calling His church to do in these end times. We must be alert. We must be ready. We must be willing. We must obey without question or hesitation. It may sound like a hard task. Yes, it is a hard task. But with the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, all things are possible. We can do this. Yes, we will do this, personally, and together.

God is calling the Church to arise, take up our weapons of warfare and the full armor of God and march forth, following the One who is the mighty victorious warrior, the One who leads heaven’s army and the One who is leading His church to final victory. Let’s get on board and join the army of prayer warriors and see this thing happen.

I pray for divine strength for each of you as you follow in His footsteps and walk out the destiny He has prepared for you. I pray for the joy of the Lord to be your strength at all times. May you know the wonder of His holy presence in your life.
